30-Apr-2021 Close All Job SummaryThe Office of Diversity, Equity, Community and Engagement (ODECE) encourages applications for a Temporary Administrative Assistant. This position is currently a temporary part-time position with hours that may range from 20 to 40 hours per week, dependent on Council needs and projects. The Administrative Assistant reports to the IDEA Council Co-Chairs. The position exists to assist the IDEA Council Co-Chairs, Council members, Ex-Officio members, Project Change Manager, Business Analyst and campus partners by providing high quality service, excellent administrative duties, and strong communication.

The IDEA Council is an autonomous unit that makes recommendations to university executive leaders and units outlined in the IDEA Plan as well as assesses and reports on progress toward IDEA Plan implementation. The Chancellor, Provost, Chief Operating Officer, Vice Chancellor of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement as well as the newly appointed Senior Vice Chancellor of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion provide guidance, support, and take on responsibility for the implementation of these recommendations. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Provide high-quality service including high quality communication (written and verbal), correspondence (in-person and email), and detailed organizational skills
  • Schedule appointments and meetings, while takin meeting minutes, and reporting meeting minutes back out to the group
  • Manage council emails and send council meeting reminders and agendas
  • Connect new and current employees with existing affinity groups, while coordinating with Human Resources
  • General administrative work as needed by the department
  • Assist in the management of the IDEA council website and other projects as assigned
What You Should KnowThis is a part-time, hourly temporary position. What We Can OfferThe compensation for this position is $21.63 per hour ($45,000 full time annual basis) BenefitsTemporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.   • Three years of general clerical or administrative service experience.
    • Appropriate education can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.


What You Will Need
  • Demonstrate a dedication to working in a culturally competent environment and the ability to effectively work with students, employees, and community members with a diverse group of backgrounds
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficiency in Google Suite applications, including Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Calendar, chat/messaging functions, or experience with comparable platforms
  • Experience interacting with students, staff, & faculty or comparable/transferrable diverse roles and diverse age groups
  • Excellent customer service
  • Proven ability to work as a team member within a collaborative work environment
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot and problem-solve
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects and requests
  • Strong follow-through, organizational, planning and analytical skills
