Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sport Administration, Physical Education or closely related field. Master’s degree preferred in Physical Education, Sport Management, Recreation, Business, Higher Education, Student Development or related field. Three years full‑time paid experience in a professional, supervisory capacity of a recreation oriented program or experience in a related field. Experience with campus recreation would be helpful. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Assist with planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of the daily operations and personnel within one or more of the program areas of Intramurals, Aquatics, Self-Directed Program, Club Sports, Outdoor Program, Fitness Program, or Special Events.

Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will manage a comprehensive Intramural Sports program to include: staff development, leagues, tournaments, special events and extramural events for students.

Primary Responsibilities:
>Responsible for hiring, discipline, training, evaluating, and scheduling associated staff for Intramural activities including Intramural Sports Supervisors and Game Managers, as well as approximately 60 seasonal intramural sports officials.
>Responsible for hiring, dismissing, training, evaluating, and scheduling the Intramural and Club Sports Graduate Assistant.
>Responsible for developing, planning, and managing Intramural Sport leagues and tournaments including officiated and self-officiated team or individual/dual sports.
>Responsible for conducting staff and officials trainings, participant meetings, as well as any participant or staff disciplinary meetings as necessary.
>Oversees equipment inventory for associated Intramural Sports.
>Oversees the management and development of intramural and club sports facilities.
>Completes and submits all reports, evaluations, tracking, participant/staff records, travel authorities, employee and club manuals, and other project and position-related paperwork and presentations in a timely manner.
>Manages budgets for Intramural Sports(approximately $185,000)
>Determines program registration fees and monetary revenue, making necessary adjustments to balance budgets.
>Purchases necessary equipment and manages depreciation for associated programs.
>Collaborates in the development and implementation of the safety and risk management procedures for associated Intramural events.
>Ensures compliance with all department, university, and state policies for payroll processes and regulations.
>Evaluates facilities to meet needs and risk management standards and differing sport governing regulations.
>Assists with marketing and advertising as well as website maintenance, including updating results, championship information, and other activities in collaboration with the marketing department.
>Delivers excellent customer service and collaborates with student groups, organizations, university departments, alumni, government officials, vendors, and others as necessary.
>Performs additional duties as assigned including committee membership and department-wide program facilitation.
>Additional duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
>Sport officiating experience
>Demonstrated success in developing and managing budgets.
>Demonstrated experience in a University Campus Recreation program.
>Demonstrated experience administering risk management practices for recreation programs.
>Professional experience administering intramural, sport club, and/or adult sports programming.
>Demonstrated success in personnel training and supervision of multiple part-time staff.
>Demonstrated experience in hiring and training sports officials
>Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of recreational programs to a culturally diverse population.
>Must possess well developed communicative and interpersonal skills essential to working with large and small groups.
>Certification in American Red Cross CPR and FirstAid.
>High School Sports Officiating Certification(s).
>NIRSA Membership.

This position may be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
