Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Department of Communication and Media at Lamar University invites nominations and applications for a full-time instructor to teach undergraduate courses in our communication studies track. The position will start August 23, 2021.

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience):

About the Position:
Candidates should demonstrate an ability to teach undergraduate courses in communication studies, communication theory, interpersonal communication, and/or health communication. We hope that the incoming instructor can teach three or more of the following classes: Introduction to Mass Communication, Introduction to Communication, Public speaking, Business and professional speech, Interpersonal communication, Advanced public speaking, Interviewing, Performance studies, and Argumentation.

A demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds is required. Higher education teaching experience is required. M.A. or M.S. in communication, mass communication, or a related field is required at the time of the appointment. Ph.D. candidates and Ph.D. recipients are encouraged to apply.

Clear evidence of effective teaching and commitment to undergraduate education; participation in advising/mentoring, recruitment, service, and committee work also required. Applicants who would enrich the diversity of the campus community are strongly encouraged to apply.
