Description
The Gateway Program Seminar at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of Lecturers from which future appointments of temporary, non-tenure track positions will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time). Appointments range from one week to full semester long and will be made on a term by term basis.

The Gateway Program Seminar (GPS) is an academic program designed to help first-year students successfully adjust to university life. GPS serves as the foundation for the Compass Curriculum, the campus-wide general education program at UCCS. Through GPS, students are exposed to interdisciplinary curriculum taught by experienced faculty from across campus to establish meaningful connections, cultivate an inclusive community, and create a sense of belonging from their first year at UCCS and beyond The Gateway Program Seminar is comprised of interdiciplinary educators with expertise across diverse learning contexts and populations. 

Applicants must be enthusiastic about teaching first-year students and demonstrate an understanding of the college experience in accordance with program curriculum and outcomes. Topics range from discipline specific, theme related, and hobbies based courses and are taught in a variety of platforms including, online, hybrid, in-person format. Most classes utilize a co-teaching model with an assigned student peer leader. Available courses can be found at https://gps.uccs.edu/seminars.

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $2,800 - $3,000 per 3 credit hours, depending on course being conducted in-person or online

Temporary Lecturer appointments are not eligible for group health and life insurance benefits or vacation leave accrual. This position is eligible for paid sick leave. Information on benefits, including eligibility, is located at: http://www.cu.edu/employee-services.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: 

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university 
  • One-year of teaching experience are required
Preferred Requirements: 

  • A master's degree from an accredited university 
  • At least two years of teaching in a higher education setting
Physical Requirements: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move
  • Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, and fine motor skills
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
