Minimum Qualifications:

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree. 5-8 years of development experience in higher education and/or intercollegiate athletics.

Position Summary:

The Executive Associate Athletic Director for Development is responsible for the management of The Georgia Bulldog Club including annual gifts, major gift programs, developing and implementing capital campaigns, stewardship programs and management of Georgia Athletic Hospitality with the goal of maximizing revenue to the Athletic Association. Position will be responsible for prospect management, proposal tracking, special events and projects.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Demonstrated working knowledge of the principles and practices of major gift fundraising for intercollegiate athletics for a minimum of 5 years. Proven skills in developing sophisticated strategies in planning, implementing and administering complex major-gift solicitations. Strong ability to recruit, orient, train, organize, motivate and evaluate staff and volunteers who support development goals and programs.
Ability to read and write business correspondence and to communicate proficiently with individuals within and outside the University by telephone and email. Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks. This position requires knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, good organizational skills and ability to interact with individuals at all levels.

Provide managerial oversight of The Georgia Bulldog Club staff including solicitations, prospect management, proposal tracking, special events and capital projects. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Georgia Bulldog Club to maximize revenues from all sources. Analyze existing annual fund and major gift strategies and create innovative methods to enhance revenues from donors. Increase transparency and nurture the culture of The Georgia Bulldog Club to a broad-based development operation, inclusive of revenues from leadership, major and planned gifts, and special events. Formulate and implement cultivation strategies for individuals, corporations, alumni and foundations to address priority assigned programs. Develop and implement capital campaigns based on the department’s needs.

Percentage of time:



Manage a portfolio of leadership and principal gift prospects. Establish metrics and recognition for number of prospects, contacts, solicitations and gifts closed each year for each staff member. Identify and qualify major-gifts through rating and screening, prospect list segmentation and analysis, and one-on-one contact with donors and volunteers. Conceptualize and direct the development of a new strategic area of growth for Athletics regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Provide managerial oversight of the Athletic Ticket Office which facilitate and coordinate ticket assignment and distribution for all UGA ticketed events.

Increase the collaboration and dialogue between athletics development and university development, take full advantage of best practices, creative ideas, good relationships, identification of new and multiple interest prospects and potential prospects.

Assist and facilitate professional development and elevate the profile of the Georgia Bulldog Club nationally by participation in industry associations, including NACDA and NAAD.
