York Country Day School seeks a dynamic and dedicated Mathematics teacher to join the faculty on a part-time basis for the 2021-2022 school year.
Beginning August 2021, the teacher will teach Math courses to students in grades 6-12. The ideal candidate will connect well with students in each age group. Interested candidates should have expertise in 21st century learning within the classroom and knowledge with STEAM learning experiences for students. The teacher will be called upon to advise students and sponsor a club as well. All teachers are expected to be involved in the life of the school and participate in school events.
The ideal candidate will be able to teach Middle and Upper School mathematical skills, including algebra, geometry, calculus, probability, and statistics. In addition, the candidate should be able to foster problem solving skills, engage students in logical, mathematical reasoning, and promote active, student-centered learning. The ideal candidate should possess at minimum an undergraduate degree in Math education or a related field. Candidates should have teaching experience and be an excellent communicator and collaborator. Candidates must have the capacity to deliver instruction both in-person and on a remote learning platform as needed. Previous teaching in an independent school setting is desired.
