Compensation: Starting salary is based on rank and applicable steps for related work experience as per the Santa Fe College Salary Schedule. Description:

The Department of Allied Health Programs at Santa Fe College is seeking a nine (9) month Assistant Professor for the Invasive Cardiovascular Technology (CVT) Program to promote and encourage student success through quality instruction and practical learning experiences beginning Fall 2021.

Under general supervision, the Assistant Professor, Invasive Cardiovascular Technology Program will develop, prepare and teach a variety of coursework. Areas of instruction include: anatomy and physiology; hemodynamics; pathophysiology; procedural knowledge of cardiac and peripheral catheterization procedures; interpretation of procedural findings; and electrophysiology. Candidates must have the flexibility to teach at different times and clinical sites throughout the academic year. Full-time faculty have a primary nine (9) month contract based on teaching 15 credit hours in the Fall and 15 credit hours in the Spring; teaching opportunities beyond contractual obligations during the summer may be available for additional compensation based upon departmental need.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Plan, organize and deliver instruction in didactic, laboratory and/or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting.

  • Support and promote the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.

  • Collaborate with department chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum to cultivate the mastery of course content.

  • Evaluate student learning, manage course activities, consult and mentor students and participate in professional development for the improvement of the CVT program.

  • Maintain consistent communication with students, clinical assistants, clinical instructors, and clinical sites.

  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment of and clear feedback regarding academic performance.

  • Appropriately document student progress and maintain records including attendance, grading and student learning outcomes.

  • Verify students clinical paperwork, health records and required screenings are complete prior to students clinical internship.

  • Document regular scheduled visits to clinical education centers to assess students’ clinical instruction.

  • Provide coordination, direction and guidance to clinical instructors.

  • Establish and maintain clinical affiliates in order to provide appropriate clinical education experiences for students.

  • Maintain clinical records to include student attendance, site evaluation and clinical proficiencies.

  • Schedule clinical externship, follow up with program graduates and survey local employers to determine the needs of the program.

  • Oversee the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) program with clinical affiliates.

  • Organize and participate in student recruitment, admissions and advisement initiatives for the CVT program.

  • Maintain current knowledge of the discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development.

  • Participate in meetings and program advisory committee work as designated.

  • Ensure effective program operation and compliance with Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), or other regulatory agency requirements.

  • Assist in the development of CVT academic policies and procedures.

  • Participate in public relations activities for the CVT program and maintain involvement in state and national professional organizations.

  • Maintain good standings in professional societies.

  • Maintain appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.

  • Assist with implementation of college policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with SF college philosophy, values, and mission.

  • Strictly honor the privacy, security and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.

  • Commitment to students and excellence in undergraduate education.

  • Work a flexible schedule at multiple worksites.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Academic Chair, Allied Health Programs

Qualifications:

Required: Associate’s degree. Must have at least three years of full-time experience as an invasive cardiovascular technologist in a clinical setting as well as one year of teaching experience in a clinical or academic setting. Must have a credential as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred: A bachelor's degree. A credential in echocardiography.
