Area 59 is seeking a student during the school year to assist members and course attendees in computer-aided project design using various design software including but not limited to AutoCAD, Solidworks, Adobe Illustrator, and Autodesk design programs.Reports To:
Ellen Peterson, Area 59 DirectorEducation/Qualifications:
• An interest in engineering, machining, welding, digital design, and/or 3D modeling is required.
• Experience with engineering, machining, welding, digital design, and/or 3D modeling, preferred.
• Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college
• Gillette College Student currently enrolled
• Cumulative GPA is 2.0 or greater
•Advanced beginner knowledge of desktop hardware, operating systems and simple networks.
•Excellent customer service skills.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•Ability to independently interpret, resolve or refer student lab issues, make decisions and determine work flow without direct supervision.
•Ability to learn on the job and apply creative solutions to routine functions and processes.
•Day, evenings and weekend work schedule
•Long periods of time working with computers
•Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
•Ability to bend low and/or reach overhead, lift up to 35 pounds
•General design center oversight and duties, including opening and closing the lab, ensure members and attendees follow safe operating procedures, and checking out center assets to members/attendees to perform makerspace equipment operations.
•Assist in the development and testing of design center training materials.
•Participate and collaborate in improving the design center learning efforts at Area 59.
