Your opportunity:

The Rotman Commerce program is offered jointly by the Rotman School of Management and the Faculty of Arts and Science. It is a highly respected, highly competitive program within the business, financial and academic communities. Rotman Commerce serves approximately 2900 in-program undergraduate business students as well as over 13,000 graduates of the Bachelor of Commerce program. Rotman Commerce offers its students a rich and rigorous academic program alongside ample opportunities to develop themselves personally and professionally.

As the Development Officer, Annual and Leadership Giving, you will be part of a team working under the general direction of the Executive Director, Advancement, Rotman School of Management. You will research, identify, cultivate and solicit individual and corporate donorprospects with a focus on gifts and pledges up to $25,000. You will also collaborate with the Division of University Advancement Annual Giving team to plan, implement, and manage annual fund acquisition, retention and staff and faculty campaigns. You will ensure proper stewardship takes place following a gift to maintain the donor involvement, interest and support. The active involvement of key members of the university community and volunteers is essential to the overall success of such a program.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance.
  • Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementationof plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition
  • Developing and implementing plans to support donor management and stewardship strategies and/or activities
  • Meeting face-to-face with current and potential donors to discuss giving interests and opportunities
  • Developing tailored fundraising initiatives that support strategic initiatives
  • Developing communication plans to support University fundraising campaigns and mission
  • Updating prospect databases and portfolios

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of annual giving experience in higher education fundraising/non-profit development office, or similar experience
  • General knowledge of the theory and practice of annual and leadership giving is essential
  • Excellent and proven oral and written communication skills with the ability to draft, proof and edit a range of written material
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and professional presence necessary to interact with alumni, donors, senior volunteers and stakeholders
