ExemptRequired Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.:
•Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in a natural or physical science, environmental health, environmental studies, public health, sanitary science, sanitary engineering, geography, or related field and 1 year of job-related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the position.
•Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental compliance regulations.
•Skill in developing and delivering training presentations using software or web-based tools.
•Effective oral and written communication skills
•Proficient in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and desktop publishing software.
•Ability to interact with people and make public presentations.
•Master’s Degree from an accredited university in a required or related field.
•40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training
•Knowledge of State and Federal statutes/regulations regarding food safety.
•Knowledge of inspection techniques used for retail food establishments and types of equipment used in those
•Experience with website development, marketing, and social media content creation
•Ability to review plans and specifications for compliance with environmental rules, regulations, and practices.Job Description:
Responsible for assisting in the management of environmental, health and safety programs. The primary responsibility is to provide support for environmental compliance programs, including stormwater, universal waste recycling, and food safety.Job Duties:
•Plan, coordinate, and participate in outreach events to support MS4 Stormwater Permit goals.
•Develop, implement, and maintain education and outreach campaigns to support MS4 Stormwater Program goals and Universal Waste Recycling program.
•Support environmental programs by conducting inspections, performing data entry, and reviewing construction plans for compliance with environmental regulations.
•Participate in collection of hazardous and universal wastes from campus.
•Package and prepare universal waste for shipment and recycling.
•Assist in developing and providing training to staff for universal waste.
•Assist in developing content and maintaining the environmental program webpages.
•Assist in developing interdepartmental and external partnerships to promote recycling opportunities on campus.
•Review applications, issue permits, and conduct inspections of Temporary Food Establishments to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and University policy.
•Coordinate and provide Food Handler Training in person or on-line and issue certifications.
•Provide technical assistance/customer service to campus community for environmental and food safety programs.
•Participate as a member of the spill response team upon completion of specialized training.
•Other duties as assigned.
•Work involves various degrees of hazard and may include prolonged work in outdoor conditions
•May respond to emergencies on campus during the day or after-hours. Will carry after hours phone on a rotating basis.
•Work may require lifting up to 50 pounds
