Job Details
Hofstra University's Department of Drama and Dance program provides students with the opportunity to develop and hone their skills as performers, designers and technicians, and deepen their appreciation for these arts as they gain practical experience to pursue careers in the theater, dance and beyond. Many graduates have gone on to success in film, television, on Broadway and off-Broadway and as members or founders of renowned dance companies. The department presents six plays and two dance concerts per year, including our Shakespeare Festival, now in its 71st year. Facilities include the John Cranford Adams Playhouse, a large proscenium theater that seats more than 1,100, and the 200-seat Joan & Donald Schaeffer Black Box Theater. Recently Hofstra unveiled a reconstruction of The Globe stage, the most historically accurate in North America to date. Hofstra has been named one of the “9 Great New York Acting Schools and Universities” by Backstage

Qualifications:•MA, MFA or doctoral degree in Theatre with a strong emphasis in Drama of the African diaspora.
•Minimum two years teaching at the University level.
•Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaborative, and time management skills essential.
