Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: IT Leadership II performs high-level professional or technical IT activities for specialized, complex and/or functional areas requiring the expert knowledge and professional application of IT principles, practices and techniques in accordance with industry standards and university policy. Generally responsible for managing a large IT unit/department or multiple functions within a department supervising senior level and entry level professional IT personnel and other staff. May be responsible for establishing policy, procedures and standards that ensure the protection and security of IT functions.

Additional Department Summary: This position will report to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and will oversee and direct the activities of the security team to include network security, end point security, monitoring, assessment and logging, security reviews, security awareness training and testing, threat hunting, and incident handling for low and medium incidents. The Deputy CISO and CISO will collaborate on security policy, security strategic planning, regulatory and industry compliance (e.g. FERPA, HIPAA, PCI DSS, GLBA, FISMA, etc.), and incident handling.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional IT experience; OR Master's degree or higher and five (5) years of progressively responsible professional IT experience. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system skills, or security technology. Advanced knowledge of project management methods and applications. Supervision of people or financial resources. May require advanced level training or certification.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: The Deputy CISO must have a current CISSP (Certified Information System Security Professional) certification and must maintain it going forward.

Skills and Knowledge: Thorough understanding and/or hands on knowledge and skills with some of the following areas: firewall technology, intrusion detection/intrusion prevention, antivirus/anti malware tools, system security configuration monitoring and management, vulnerability assessment and remediation, penetration assessment and remediation, security information and event management, and threat intelligence assessment.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred additional qualifications included SANS (GIAC) security training certification(s) and/or CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), and/or other industry recognized security certifications.
