Job Summary: The Coordinator Academic Support works as a key member of the Center for Student Success team to plan, improve, and operationalize academic support programs and services for students. These responsibilities will include the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of peer tutors and mentors.

Additional Department Summary: The Coordinator of Academic Support (Academic Coaching) position develops and delivers academic support to individuals and groups of students; this includes providing one-on-one academic coaching to UA students, as well as recruiting, selecting and training student peer coaches, and overseeing the operation of a full-scale peer coaching program. This position also collaborates with campus partners and Capstone Center for Student Success colleagues to develop and deliver study skills workshops and presentations to campus constituents to support academic success. Under limited supervision, the Coordinator manages and supervises student and professional staff in the CCSS, develops innovative programming to enhance academic support for UA students, and identifies/implements technology based services to enhance and expand online/distance program offerings. The Coordinator participates in assessment efforts to identify programmatic needs and accountability for program success related to specify learning and operational outcomes, accurately maintains visit records and data, and develops/implements appropriate and effective marketing and communication strategies to promote programs, services, and activities to students served as well as campus wide constituencies. The Coordinator will, as needed, represent the Capstone Center for Student Success to constituents both on and off campus. This position generally works 8:00am-4:45pm with the occasional evening or weekend as required.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience.

Skills and Knowledge: Experience in supervision, advising, coaching, or student development experience in higher education. Highly developed positive interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse population. Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, detail oriented, work independently adhere to strict timelines. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in order to successfully perform essential tasks as well as manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Proficiency using technology with the ability to collect, analyze, interpret, disseminate and report data regarding program outcomes and services to internal and external constituents. Ability to collaborate with other units within Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to plan and implement programs to promote student success and enhance student retention. Must be able and willing to work and interact with undergraduate students, parents, faculty, staff, and administrators. Use of personal computers and standard application software (word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management programs). Good organizational, communication, public relations and management skills including budget management, planning, evaluation and assessment, marketing, and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, college student personnel, or related area. Prior experience with the development, implementation and management of tutoring or peer leadership programs. Knowledge and understanding of best practices in student development, campus environments, community and student learning theories and their application in practice, and a tolerance for ambiguity.
