Professional Research Assistant

The Laboratory for Integrative Vision (https://clas.ucdenver.edu/lab-for-integrative-vision/) is seeking applicants for a one-year, full-time Professional Research Assistant position to begin May 2021.

The Laboratory for Integrative Vision is situated in the Department of Psychology at the Downtown Campus of the University of Colorado Denver.  Research in the lab focuses on how attentional mechanisms operate on visual input over space and time, as well as how such processes may differ across individuals.  The Department of Psychology is also home to other active research laboratories which use both human and animal studies to contribute to the field of Behavioral Cognitive Neuroscience.

Examples of Work Performed 

    Running experiment participantsTraining undergraduate volunteers on experimental protocolsConducting literature reviews, assisting with research disseminationMaintaining laboratory equipment and overseeing experiment schedulingSubmitting administrative paperwork related to research IRBsParticipating in weekly lab meetings
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The ideal applicant will be highly organized, reliable, and able to work well with others.  The applicant should be self-motivated and self-directed, with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.  Good communication skills are important.  A working knowledge of perception, cognition, and experimental methodology are important for this position.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this been position has been established at $35,600 at 1.0 FTE.

The above salary rate represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate at the time of posting. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

    Bachelors degree in Psychology or Cognitive Neuroscience Previous experience with human subjects research in a laboratory setting
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

    Experience running participants in eye-tracking and/or EEG studiesExperience managing other students in conducting research studies
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Good organizational skillsExcellent communication skillsBasic computer skillsFamiliarity with Matlab, PsychoPy and/or other programming languagesKnowledge of the field of perception, attention, and/or cognition
