Description of Work:

The responsibilities of this position involve the performance of all daily laboratory maintenance, processing, and analysis tasks. Specific processing tasks include DNA and RNA extraction from human bio-specimens (whole blood and saliva). Performing quantity and quality assessments of the extracted nucleic acids. All tasks must be performed successfully in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory environment where constant time constraints are in place and tight deadlines must be met.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Education and Experience: College degree and an additional one (plus) years of direct lab experience particularly important is pipetting experience; advanced knowledge of molecular biology techniques; experience working with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Special Physical and Mental Requirements:

Ability to lift/move 50lbs; must be highly detail oriented and willing to follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) precisely; must be flexible to daily changes in work scope; and have the ability to work under demanding time constraints.
