The Bioinformatics Core Facility at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) provides bioinformatics and computational biology research services for the cancer center. As a member of the Bioinformatics Core Facility, the Research Assistant Professor will be responsible for data analysis, including statistical analysis, machine learning, and the development and execution of software to support LCCC sponsored research with minimal guidance. Specific research goals will be identified through collaboration with geneticists, oncologists, immunologists, and, biostatisticians.
Fulfillment of this role requires ability to conduct research and collaborations independently, strong proficiency in R, strong scientific communication skills, experience with next-generation sequence analysis, Python or Perl, data mining, and statistical and machine learning experience.
A PhD in bioinformatics, genetics, computer science, mathematics, physics, genetics, statistics, computational biology, or relevant field is required.Qualifications and Experience:
The candidate will have demonstrated quantitative research including applied statistics and machine or statistical learning in bioinformatics and genomics.
-More than three years post-PhD bioinformatics experience
-Knowledge of cancer biology, immunology, and microbiology.
Additional beneficial experience:
-Demonstrated experience with methods development of viral detection from RNA-seq.
-Experience with mass cytometry/CyTOF data.
-Demonstrated experience with small RNA-seq.
-Experience analyzing B and T-cell receptor repertoires.
