Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include the overall direction of the Department (including fiscal management), facilitation and mentoring of the faculty to enhance its research, teaching, and professional service activities, in addition to serving as a promoter of cross-department/cross-school collaborations.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. and/or MD, with expertise in the fields of pharmacology, neuroscience or a closely related discipline. They should have an active nationally-recognized research program (as evidenced by a strong publication record and a continued success in securing extramural funding), proven administrative and leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence in training/education in the biomedical sciences.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience:

The Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine is seeking to recruit an accomplished scholar with a strong track record of promoting inter-disciplinary research and high-quality graduate education to lead the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Neuroscience as Chair. Faculty members within the Department conduct basic and applied/translational research that addresses a variety of major health disorders ranging from cardiovascular disease, alcohol abuse, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and depression. The Department provides graduate training in programs that lead to Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., M.S., and M.S./M.B.A. degrees with a pharmacology and/or neuroscience emphasis. The Department also runs a summer undergraduate research program and a new Pharmacovigilance certificate program.
