SHS Per Diem Dentist Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 23075653 40% Part Time 8AM - 5PM $144,303 - $144,303 Position Information The Per Diem Dentist is a member of the UCR Student Health Services (SHS) Team. This is a per diem (hourly) appointment. In accordance with ADA standards, provide full, complete dental care and services to UCR students, including but not limited to the diagnosing, explaining, and implementing of treatment options and will actively engage in dental education. This recruitment will be for two per diem positions up to 40% appointment. This is a one year per diem position, with the possibility of extension based on available funding at the time. Licenses License Requirement Current unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of California. Required
Certifications Certification Requirement DEA certificate Required Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) / Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) card and must be maintained in accordance with the American Heart Association standards Required
Conditions Condition Requirement Continuance of educational requirements as guidelined by the Dental Board of California are required to continue education for requirements of renewal of license or permit. Required Graduation from an accredited ADA Dental program or equivalent foreign dental training. Required Experience Experience Requirement Minimum of 1-2 years of experience Required (Credentialing Requirement) A minimum of 1 year working with current employer. Required
Minimum Requirements Current unrestricted License to practice dentistry in the State of California. Strong verbal and in written communication skills. Commitment to quality patient care, excellent customer service, and to patient education regarding dental health.
Ability to diagnose routine and special dental needs of patients seen and treated in Student Health Services.
Thorough knowledge associated with conducting examinations, prescribing and administering treatments, and advising patients. Ability to develop and implement treatment plans or referrals for special dental treatments/interventions.
Must be skilled in use of dental instruments, air hand pieces, and dental filing and cementing materials for teeth restoration. Must be skilled in the use of cosmetic procedures, such as dental whitening. Ability to administer oral anesthesia.
Ability to obtain and/or maintain knowledge of new and developing materials by continuing education and techniques as required by state law and/or accrediting bodies.
Knowledge and ability to perform a wide range of clinical skills to provide routine dental treatments in the maintenance, restoration and prevention of dental disease.
Ability to communicate with both patients and clinical staff members. Must be able to work in a collaborative manner. Must be able to influence others.
Must be computer literate. Requires knowledge of electronic/dental records systems.
Ability to make appropriate judgement of when to refer patients to dental specialist(s) for non-routine or difficult procedures that would require specialized dental care, treatments, or intervention.
Manual dexterity to safely handle and manipulate all required tools in order to perform job functions.
Preferred Qualifications Ability to sit, stand, bend, and stoop frequently throughout each shift.
Knowledge and ability to prepare and keep clinical records.
Ability to provide dental prophylactics.
Experience with dental scheduling and/or EMR scheduling systems.
Ability to safely lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
