Job Summary:

Teaches assigned courses in Statistics, English, Humanities, Literature and others to be determined in accordance with course competencies and syllabi. Develops and/or utilizes a variety of instructional strategies, techniques and delivery methods designed to meet the individual learning styles of students. Fosters a safe and civil learning environment. Informs students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policies. Monitors, evaluates, and documents student attendance, progress and competency attainment.

Essential Functions:

Teach and facilitate college classes in keeping with DMACC course standards and guidelines
Conduct all necessary assessment and reporting. Work collaboratively with other corrections educators, pathway navigators, DMACC coordinator, and DOC facility to assess and report student progress, needs, and next steps.
Pass DOC background check.
Willingness to work with diverse, justice impacted students.

Required Qualifications:

Masters Degree in the subject area or a masters degree in another area plus 18 graduate credits in the area being taught.
Must complete 4-6 hours of training through the Department of Corrections (DOC) and DMACC’s Department for Justice Impacted Communities

Desired Qualifications:

Past experience teaching college courses
Past experience working with justice impacted communities
Willingness to work additional hours with students as academic tutor (for additional compensation)

Work Schedule:

DMACC is willing to work with instructor to create a schedule that meets requirements for the course and works within the instructor’s schedule.
