Physical Requirements:

Lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects over 50lbs.; Risk of back injury from moving, lifting or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; Sitting at computer workstation for extended periods; Performing repetitive motion tasks; Risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job; Exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste.


Monday – Friday: 8:00am – 5:00pm (40 hours a week)

Job Summary:

This position involves day-to-day management of specific equipment within the Electron Microscopy Center (EMC), as well as participation in general center activities and contributions to longer-term strategic development. The EMC is a cost-recovery center housed in the College of Engineering. Job responsibilities include technical oversight of multiple characterization instruments, working with users and students who need to learn how to perform materials characterization, developing new methods and techniques for characterization, and working to achieve the center’s financial goals for cost recovery.

Experience and knowledge working with specialized materials characterization equipment. Equipment (X-Ray Microcomputed Tomography, Electron Microscopy, X-Ray Diffraction, etc.); Understanding of a Broad Range of Materials Systems,

Preferred Education/Experience:

Engineering or related degree.

Masters degree + 3 years of reated experience
