Employee Services provides the CU community with excellent services from recruitment to retirement. This office provides technical expertise while administering benefits, professional development, payroll, individual tax management, and strategic HR programs. The functional areas of Employee Services include Payroll, Technologies, Benefits, Retirement, Financial Education, Learning and Development, International Tax and Human Resources.

Position Summary:
The Talent Acquisition Professional at the University of Colorado’s (CU) System Administration focuses on providing recruiting services to all departments of System Administration. This position is responsible for recruitment processes, from job posting through hire, and provides guidance to departments on recruitment strategies that result in highly qualified and diverse applicant pools. The incumbent provides sourcing for top talent, monitors the recruitment process, provides recommendations regarding leading candidates, and provides guidance to search committees regarding procedures and best practices.  This position ensures departments are maintaining timeliness of their recruitments and delivering the best candidate care to our applicants. Additionally, this position will assist with position management and compensation review as needed. 

This position reports to the Senior Director of Human Resources and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff system. 

**This position is funded for 12 months, with a possibility of extension after the initial year.**

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:


  • Provides guidance and oversight to hiring managers and departments throughout the recruitment process
  • Leads meetings with departments to discuss recruiting needs and strategies to ensure highly qualified and diverse applicant pools
  • Creates recruitment plans and develops timelines with System Administration departments
  • Drafts job announcements, creates pre-screening questions, and posts positions through the CU Careers applicant tracking system
  • Provides guidance and coordination on additional applicant outreach and actively sources candidates when necessary through LinkedIn, Indeed, Dice, and other resources
  • Reviews application materials and screens applications against minimum and preferred qualifications
  • Manages the applicant tracking system using appropriate disposition codes and applicant communications
  • Corresponds with all applicants based on pre-determined timeline to ensure a positive candidate experience 
  • Provides continual customer service and communication updates to System Administration’s hiring managers for each step in the process
  • Consults with System Administration’s hiring managers on the verbal and written offers to candidates
  • Advises, interprets, and guides university employees, supervisors, and/or job applicants regarding University policies and state and federal laws and regulations
Interview and Search Committee support

  • Collaborates with hiring managers to determine appropriate interview approaches
  • Completes phone screens of top candidates and provides recommendations to hiring managers
  • Advises search committees on advertising and outreach methods, interviewing strategies, and appropriate references checking
Position Management (on as needed basis):

  • Reviews position descriptions for completeness, consistency, and appropriate leveling, including Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and State of Colorado Exemptions.  
  • Performs ad hoc job analysis using quantitative and qualitative research methods. This includes reviewing job descriptions, analyzing internal and external sources of data, collaborating with leadership to understand business needs, and applying industry knowledge to provide consultation.
  • Maintains human resource information system (HRIS) position records and entry into internal HR database.
  • Collaborates with members of HR team on next steps when position review is complete.
Who we are: System Administration, which also houses the Office of the President, is located in the uptown neighborhood of Denver with a few smaller offices located on the campuses.  However, this position is located in Denver or has the possibility to work remotely.  Many of our departments support the educational and research missions of the four University of Colorado campuses, but System Administration is not considered a campus. What we offer:

Salary: The salary range has been established at $61,827 - $76,279, with the expected hiring range at $62,000 - $67,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
To be successful in this position, candidates will need the following:

  • Knowledge and understanding of human resources laws, regulations, policies, principles, and best practices
  • Knowledge of best practices and legal requirements related to sourcing and recruiting highly qualified and diverse candidate pools
  • Knowledge of recruitment resources and tools to source candidates for hard to fill positions
  • Ability to utilize an applicant tracking system to fulfill recruitment needs and track recruitment progress 
  • Ability to interpret business needs and think strategically to define recruitment strategies
  • Ability to interpret laws and policies to support departments in making appropriate hiring decisions
  • Ability to deliver customer service through both written and verbal communication
  • Skilled in recruitment practices and techniques; job postings, interviews, reference checking, sourcing, etc.
  • Computer  skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and learn and experiment with new software and systems
  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate interaction, communication, and teamwork between others
  • Oral, written, and listening communication skills, including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details accurately and clearly
  • Organizational skills, including the ability to set and meet goals and deadlines, manage appointments, create schedules, coordinate and facilitate meetings, and make decisions 
  • Customer service skills, including the ability to actively listen, address customer needs, defuse tense situations, and maintain an open, flexible, and friendly demeanor

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent professional experience (professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis)
  • Three (3) years’ experience utilizing an applicant tracking system, coordinating recruitment functions, and/or performing general human resources activities 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years’ experience, utilizing an applicant tracking system, coordinating recruitment functions, and or/ performing general human resources activities, as indicated above
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Taleo Enterprise Edition applicant tracking system and/or PeopleSoft HCM 9.2
    • IT recruitment
    • Working with or in government or an institution of higher education
    • Building and maintaining a sourcing database
  • Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification
