Detailed Description:
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the non-dining area of the Hahn University Center and Student Life Pavilion. Supervision received from Assistant Director of SLF in Consultation with Lead Custodian.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Unlocking and locking of Door locks
  • Wet-mopping of hard surfaced floors
  • Dry mopping and/or sweeping of hard surfaced floors
  • General Cleaning of sinks, toilets etc
  • Understanding of basic operation of plumbing fixtures and drains
  • Refuse removal
  • Cleaning and dusting of furnishings
  • Communication with UC/SLP tenants to ensure excellent customer service
  • Operation of vacuums, carpet buffers, carpet extractors, Kaivac cleaning systems
  • Ability to maintain inventory of necessary machinery
  • Ability to maintain inventory of cleaning supplies
  • Pick up weekly supplies

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Daily lock/unlock and cleaning of common areas of Hahn University Center and Student Life Pavilion (UCSLP), Salomon Lecture Hall. Daily duties include cleaning bathrooms, hallways, lounge spaces meeting rooms and offices.
  • Assist building management with priority projects which may include; floor refinishing, furniture moving, upholstery cleaning.
  • Assist the UCSLP management team with service to guests. Duties may include room set-ups, public relations, refuse removal and other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:
    Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to speak, read and write English.
  • At least 3 years of related experience.

    Performance Expectations - Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to lift fifty pounds.
  • Understanding of and knowledge of safe handling of chemicals and MSDS rules and regulations.
  • Understanding of custodial processes and procedures.

    Special Conditions of Employment:
    Employee is required to wear a uniform prescribed and furnished by USD. Due to hours of operation of the Hahn University Center and Student Life Pavilion the custodian may be expected to work weekends and/or evenings.

    Tools & Equipment Used:
    Vacuums, hand tools, floor buffer, carpet extractor, mops, and other tools related to the trade.

    Background check: Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

    Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.

    Posting Salary: $15.00/hour; Excellent Benefits.

    Additional Details:
    Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Monday-Friday 7am-4pm (hours will vary based on department needs).
