Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) serves as the campus community mental health center for students. The Department's mission is to support students' emotional and intellectual development, emotional resiliency and personal well-being toward optimizing their ability to thrive in UCLA's diverse learning environment. CAPS clinicians provide clinical, outreach, and mental health promotion services. Clinical services are confidential and available to regularly enrolled students.
Under the supervision of the Director or designee, the Clinical Coordinator provides comprehensive health and mental health services, disability accommodation and student development services to UCLA students, as well as provide consultation services for faculty and staff, and the campus community. Provide services designed to assist students in optimizing their educational experience, minimizing the impact of illness, injury and emotional distress on students' academic careers by coordinating mental health care through a network of campus and community resources.
Maintain knowledge of community referrals and assure that referred clients are monitored for continuity of care.
Provide crisis intervention and response, support other CAPS clinicians in crisis management, case management, and facilitating hospitalizations.
Ensure that students initiating contact with CAPS through the 24-hour access telephone line receive appropriate follow-up. Assume responsibility for documentation and document management for clinical services provided.
