Position Description:
Under the general direction of the BioAdmin Staff Personnel Supervisor, incumbent provides administrative, analytical, and payroll support for the 4 Departmental Groups of Life Sciences: Biology Group, Physiology Group, MCDB Group and LS Core Group. This involves, in particular, payroll and HR administrative support services in the hiring of Academic Apprentices (ASEs) and Graduate Student Researchers (GSRs) as well as other related Payroll/HR functions as needed.

The Payroll and Personnel Specialist is to provide payroll and personnel support for these 4 Departmental Groups of Life Sciences. Main duties include working independently, as well as collaboratively, in roles as a Pay Administrator and in Human Capital Management (known as UCPath Initiators), Submit on Behalf of (SOBO), General Ledger (Inquirer role in UCPath) and administering UC policies and procedures for the employment of Academic Apprentices and Staff Personnel.

Incumbent is to work closely with the Staff & ASE Personnel Supervisor on all the Academic Apprentice (i.e. GSR, TA, Reader, Non-Student Tutor, VGR) appointments. Incumbent's responsibilities includes handling onboarding and payroll processing for these group of employees (GSR, TA, Reader, Non-Student Tutor, VGR), working closely with fund managers to ensure funding is initiated, coordinating across many departments, monitoring and assisting with visa processing for Visiting Graduate Students, and being a liaison with college central services to resolve various issues.

Incumbent is to occasionally assist with onboarding for limited, casual/restricted, career, and contract appointments.

Incumbent is to set priorities, analyze problems, gather and interpret data, identify and evaluate options, and take appropriate actions to resolve the issues in line with Academic Apprentice policies and procedures.
