The College of Health Science and Public Health at Eastern Washington University invites applications for the Director of Clinical Education (Lecturer level position) in the Department of Physical Therapy. This is a full-time Lecturer position with a 9-month appointment and will begin August 16, 2021. The Director of Clinical Education has routinely taught summer courses.

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program is located at EWU Spokane on the Riverpoint Campus. Our mission is to graduate entry level physical therapists.

The primary role of the Director of Clinical Education (DCE) is to serve as a liaison between the program, students, and clinical education sites. The responsibilities of the DCE are to develop, plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, monitor, and measure the results of the clinical education program in coordination with academic and clinical faculty. In this role, the DCE will advocate for students during clinical internships, communicate effectively with students and clinical instructors, and empower students to achieve their highest level of clinical expertise during clinical internships. The DCE will travel as necessary to meet with students and clinical instructors, and to establish and/or maintain strong working relationships with clinical partners. As a core faculty member, the DCE will participate in scholarship and service activities.


Required Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy degree or academic doctorate
  • Licensure or eligible for licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Washington
  • Proficiency with online databases and Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated interest, ability, and/or experience in promoting cultural competency and/or diversity


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 or more years of clinical practice as a Physical Therapist
  • Experience in clinical education of physical therapy students (DCE, SCCE, or CI)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, technological, and leadership skills

Conditions of Employment:
In addition to the full-time lecturer position (8/16/2021 - 5/15/2021) there may be opportunities for:
  • Early start contract, cover any period of time worked prior to 8/16/2021.
  • Summer 2022, term to be determined.

    This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

    Note: Interviews will be conducted via Zoom (camera must be enabled). While we anticipate being open for in-person instruction for academic year 2021-22, should Washington State or university pandemic restrictions disallow for in-person instruction, then courses will be taught via online platforms, including Zoom and other technologies. Candidates must be able to demonstrate competence using these technologies.

Salary Information: The expected salary upon hire is $64,409.
