The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine, has a .9 FTE Faculty Position available for a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), or Certified Nursing Midwife (CNM). Under the direction of the full-time faculty or designee, this position provides outpatient Maternal Fetal Medicine services at the University of Colorado Hospital.

We are seeking a candidate with one or more years of independent clinical experience as an Ob-Gyn Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to include outpatient prenatal visits, examinations (such as pap smears), procedures (such as ultrasounds and IUD placements), emergency care, and health education in the perinatal/high-risk area of obstetrics. 

The APP must demonstrate the skills and capability for providing care for high-risk obstetrical patients, including patient history, physical examination, and assessment and development of care plans based on sound medical judgement. The APP should also demonstrate the skills to manage high-risk prenatal patients in an outpatient setting including patient education, basic family planning, counseling, and treatment of urgent care problems, under the guidance of a Perinatologist, and with utilization of approved guidelines.  The APP should demonstrate the ability to communicate closely and knowledgeably with primary care providers, specialists, and members of the high-risk obstetric team, to meet the comprehensive needs of patients.

Duties:

Must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, as well as the ability to maintain good working relationships with team members.

Specific duties/skills include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving as a provider of OB care for established MFM patients in the outpatient clinic.
  • An interest in management of diabetes in pregnancy.
  • Performing and interpreting limited ultrasounds, including growth and dating scans, biophysical profiles, amniotic fluid index checks, and cervical length measurements.
  • Placement of intrauterine devices
  • Pap smears
  • Interpretation of non-stress tests and biophysical profiles
  • Triage of patients being referred from primary care providers and determine in which clinic the patient should be scheduled.
Administrative functions:

  • Assist with facilitating patient access into our outpatient network of care.
  • Participate in departmental meetings.
  • Participate in research, as desired, including accessing the departmental database.
  • Track clinical metrics pertaining to MFM clinic.
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position has been established at $88,028 to $113,110.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

Nurse Practitioner

  • DNP preferred/MSN required from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure by a national professional organization.
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Colorado
  • Admission to the Advanced Practice Registry of the Colorado Board of Nursing
  • Prescriptive authority required.
  • One (1) or more years clinical experience in practice as a NP in Obstetrical/Gynecological care
     
Physician Assistant

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current Physician Assistant licensure in the State of Colorado
  • Prescriptive authority
  • One (1) or more years of experience in practice as a PA in Obstetrical/Gynecological care
Certified Nurse Midwife

  • Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing or midwifery
  • Current AMCB certification
  • One (1) or more years of experience in practice as a PA in Obstetrical/Gynecological care
  • Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State)
  • Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of experience working in Maternal Fetal Medicine.
  • Bilingual skills.
  • Diabetes Management in Pregnancy.
