Professional Research Assistant

The Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, School of Medicine is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Professional Research Assistant (PRA). The main emphasis of this position will be working in clinical human research, focused on the areas of exercise, breast cancer, and the cardiovascular complications of diabetes. 

The PRA will recruit and enroll study participants, schedule participants for clinical research study visits, oversee activity monitoring data collection, perform data computer data entry, and keep all records and data in accordance with the specific and particular protocol of each study. Strong knowledge of clinical research procedures, experience working with human subjects, and a background in exercise science, or exercise physiology required. Additionally, the PRA will work with the larger team on a biorepository focused on the cardiovascular complications of diabetes.

The PRA needs excellent computer skills and exercise testing skills. The PRA must be able to work with minimal supervision, meet deadlines and possess good communication skills with academic and clinical colleagues, and research participants. This is a one-year position with the opportunity for renewal.

Professional Field

  • Assisting the investigators with maintaining regulatory documents for institutional review boards and the Clinical Translational Research Center (CTRC)
  • Enrolling and collecting data from study participants (breast cancer patients and survivors), including obtaining informed consent, scheduling and attending research visits, and oversight of activity monitoring data collection.
  • Creating and maintaining study databases (RedCap and Excel) containing protected health information
  • Assisting the investigators with abstract development and submission, PowerPoint presentations, manuscript development and journal submission, as needed
  • Basic quantitative analysis skills
Supervision Received

Minimal; report to and work alongside study PI’s and co-Investigators

Examples of Work Performed

  • Recruit research participants, schedule, and conduct research visits
  • Manage study data and participant files
  • Develop and maintain manuals documenting study procedures
  • Maintaining regulatory documents for institutional review boards and prepare reports for study sponsors
  • Correspond with participant PCPs, as needed
  • Correspond with study sponsors, as needed
  • Regularly meet with study PIs to review progress
  • Maintain functioning study equipment
  • Work with larger investigative group on clinical database development and maintenance.
 

Salary Range and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $37,500 to $52,000

 

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have excellent communication skills and enjoy interacting with patients/research participants
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be creative and proactive
  • Must be professional, responsible, punctual, and persistent
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting human clinical research
  • Knowledge of RedCap data management systems
  • Experience working in electronic medical record systems
  • Experience working with ActivPAL accelerometers
  • Basic quantitative statistical knowledge
  • Knowledge of graded exercise testing measures
  • Master's degree in relevant field
