The Barbara Davis Center – Pediatric Clinic  has an opening for a [full-time] University Staff (unclassified) Health Care Technician I position.

Nature of WorkThis is an opening for a full-time (40 hours per week) position at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes. The person hired will be responsible for assisting the eye clinic providers with patient scheduling, check-in, insurance coordination and patient work up as needed within the eye clinic.

Supervision ReceivedThis position reports to the Director of Eye Clinic, Brian Bucca. Supervision will include training and oversight for the position’s responsibilities. The position is part of the eye clinic team and the employee will be expected to assist the staff members within that section.

Supervision ProvidedNo supervision of others is required of this position.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position requires interest in patient care, the ability to be self-directed, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a high-intensity team-oriented environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are highly desirable. Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Front desk services: Greeting patients, managing phone/communications, scheduling patients in EMR (EPIC), managing clinic metrics
  • Providing exceptional customer service/communication to patients
  • Phone/fax/computer operation (Microsoft Office and EMR)
  • Collecting, verifying and processing insurance, referrals and billing information
  • Patient care: Rooming patients, obtaining patient history, updating medications, performing preliminary visual testing and preparing exam rooms for patients and research subjects as needed
  • Practicing good HIPAA and COMIRB compliance
  • Other duties as assigned\\
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or the hiring range) for this position starts $35,652 - $39,324 and is commensurate with skills and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Minimum QualificationsMinimum of a high school diploma required

Preferred Qualifications 

1-year work experience in a medical setting preferred.

Experience working with medical professionals is desirable.

Medical Assistant experience preferred but not required

Electronic Medical Record and medical terminology knowledge highly desirable

Spanish-speaking is desirable but not required

Working ConditionsPosition requires Monday-Friday hours based on clinic appointment schedule.  The position will be located at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes on the University of Colorado at Denver Anschutz campus in Aurora, CO.
