The University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry has just welcomed their new Department Chair, C. Neill Epperson, MD and is in the process of growing the Department of Psychiatry with new programs and expanding existing programs.

Position Summary:

This posting is for two separate positions. The candidate will demonstrate expertise in the use of evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches for children and adolescents presenting in pediatric medical specialty care clinics and inpatient medical settings. Clinics at Children’s Hospital Colorado provide embedded, integrated behavioral health services. Opportunities exist in two specialty areas: 1) Solid Organ Transplant and 2) Solid Organ Transplant and Gastroenterology (split position). Those with interest and experience in pediatric/medical psychology and in transplant and/or gastroenterology are highly encouraged to apply.

Please note, these are an open rank positions and could be categorized as Instructor, Clinical Instructor, Senior Instructor, Clinical Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Professor or Clinical Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below. Clinical designations indicate an employment percentage less than 50%.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Use evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches for children and adolescents, and families presenting for Solid Organ Transplant (integrated medical clinic and inpatient settings) and/or Gastroenterology clinic (clinic and outpatient settings)Supervise, teach, and mentor psychology trainees and consult with other mental health/medical providers and staff.May have opportunities to engage in quality improvement, program development, and/or scholarship
 

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at:

  • Instructor: $90,000 to $105,000.
  • Senior Instructor: $90,000 to $105,000.
  • Assistant Professor: $90,000 to $105,000.
  • Associate Professor: $113,000 to $130,000.
  • Professor: $162,000 to $200,000.
  • Clinical Instructor: $90,000 to $105,000.
  • Clinical Senior Instructor: $90,000 to $105,000.
  • Clinical Assistant Professor: $90,000 to $105,000.
  • Clinical Associate Professor: $113,000 to $130,000.
  • Clinical Professor: $162,000 to $200,000.
This represents the 25-50 percentile of the salary range which is reflective of a candidate with 1-7 years of experience. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

    Colorado Psychologist License or be eligible for licensure within the state of ColoradoMust have significant prior experience in a psychiatric setting serving children and adolescents
  • Completed an APA-approved Ph.D. or Psy.D training program, including an APA-approved internship. 
  • Instructor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.  Minimum degree qualifications: PhD and/or PsyD
  • Senior Instructor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.  Minimum degree qualifications: PhD and/or PsyD
  • Assistant Professor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.  Minimum degree qualifications: PhD and/or PsyD
  • Associate Professor: 4-7 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.  Minimum degree qualifications: PhD and/or PsyD
  • Professor: 7+ years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.  Minimum degree qualifications: PhD and/or PsyD
  • Clinical Instructor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.  Minimum degree qualifications: PhD and/or PsyD
  • Clinical Senior Instructor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.  Minimum degree qualifications: PhD and/or PsyD

Preferred Qualifications

    Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience after completion of post-doctoral fellowship in child and adolescent psychology clinical work. Experience working in an APA accredited training program.  
  • Preference will be given to those who are eager to lead or collaborate on research or quality improvement initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to conduct diagnostic interviews, crisis evaluations, and employ use of evidence-based assessments.
  • Ability to develop treatment goals and plans, as well as evaluate treatment progress and make appropriate changes, when needed.
  • Strong foundation in behavioral and cognitive behavioral theory. Well-versed in evidence-based treatments and ability to flexibly apply these interventions with fidelity across a wide range of presenting concerns.
  • Knowledge of research and quality improvement methodology, as well as ability to independently conduct research and/or quality improvement projects.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide effective supervision to mental health trainees and consultation to other mental health professionals.
