The Department of Mathematical, Physical, and Engineering Sciences is seeking multiple part-time Adjunct instructors are needed for teaching college level mathematics courses for FALL 2021 and SPRING 2022.
Courses may include Calculus I and II, Calculus I and II Labs, College Algebra, College Algebra Recitation, Contemporary Mathematics I, Introduction to Mathematical Proofs, Modern Geometry, which will be taught face to face or online synchronously. In addition, Dual Credit College Algebra classes will be taught on campus and at participating High Schools. Course times vary.
The position is open until filled but review of applications will begin immediately.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Teaching any of these undergraduate courses in mathematics – Calculus I and II, Calculus I and II Labs, College Algebra, College Algebra Recitation, Contemporary Mathematics I, Introduction to Mathematical Proofs, Modern Geometry and other mathematics courses as needed.
Prepare and teach the assigned course/s following a syllabus guideline in face to face, online, or hybrid formats as assigned by the department.
Maintain appropriate course related records on Blackboard (our Learning Management System), assign earned grades, report needed course related data to the department, and communicate with the departmental faculty and staff on course related issues as needed.
Teaching assignments may include day, night, or weekend classes.
Required Education and Experience:
An earned Master's degree in Mathematics or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
18 graduate hours in Mathematics.
Experience and interest in teaching undergraduates in a college/university setting
Prior college mathematics teaching experience and experience with Blackboard, our Learning Management System.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Working towards (ABD) or has earned Ph.D. in Mathematics, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
Broad training in mathematics.
Excellent (1) oral and written communication skills and (2) presentation skills.
Interest in active and collaborative learning, the use of instructional technology for face to face, online, and hybrid courses.
Experience with non-traditional commuter university setting.
Experience with a culturally diverse student body.
