Department Summary:

The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas, distinguished as one of the few Tier One research universities designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), prepares graduates to address diverse and complex social issues such as aging, disability, disaster management and recovery, criminal justice, health disparities, and public safety, and find solutions to challenges in public administration, public health, and urban design. We have seven academic departments with undergraduate and graduate programs, the Center for Public Management, the UNT Speech and Hearing Center, UNT WISE and a number of professional development and clinical training programs to facilitate careers to address a global society.

HPS students are trained to lead nonprofits, become educators, researchers and professionals who strengthen the diverse communities we serve, with thoughtful, inclusive, and equitable practices as audiologists, behavior analysts, city managers, emergency managers, health care administrators, public safety administrators, public health specialists, rehabilitation counselors, speech language pathologists, social workers, urban planners, and more.

Located within HPS, UNT ENGAGE serves neurodivergent students enrolled at UNT with reaching their academic and vocational goals through person-centered planning and individualized services. Students participate in assessment and planning meetings to identify personal, academic, and vocational goals.

UNT ENGAGE staff support and guide students to reach those goals through weekly meetings, workshops, and referrals.

UNT ENGAGE is seeking an administrative coordinator to join the HPS family.

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for providing executive, administrative, and analytical support to UNT ENGAGE. Coordinates activities and acts as university-wide liaison. Identifies issues or problems and researches solutions within specific management areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and three years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Advanced written communication skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others.
• Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.
• Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively.
• Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness.
• Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
• Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.

Preferred Qualifications:

The UNT ENGAGE administrative coordinator will possess the following additional qualifications: * State/University purchasing process experience. * Experience working with grant/contract requirements.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility is needed for events and other occurrences.

Assists with administrative duties related to ENGAGE project such as: scheduling student appointments, problem-solving and trouble-shooting with students, coordinating events and completing invoicing and paperwork related to the contract.


Preparation of accounting related documents, including invoices, purchase orders, travel expense requests and vouchers: a. Travel documents prepared within 48 hours following receipt of request 95% of the time. b. Invoices and purchase orders processed within 24 hours following receipt of request 90% of the time. c. All other documents prepared within 24 hours following receipt of request 90% of the time unless otherwise agreed with Director.


May assist with registrations, order payments, certificate and grade entry.


May assist with webinar administration and online learning system administration.


Assists visitors by answering general questions pertinent to the project, and directing them to the proper personnel.


Answering of telephone and delivery of messages. Phone is answered promptly, and voice mail is checked frequently. Calls and messages are promptly, accurately, and consistently relayed to the proper persons.


Creates and disseminates correspondence and marketing materials on behalf of the office.


Works on periodic and special projects: a. Provides administrative support for projects as requested under supervision by Director and ENGAGE staff. b. Acts as internal liaison to other departments and coordinates actions on shared projects. c. Analyzes administrative needs, suggests actionable project solutions and leads them, upon approval of the Director.


Oversees and participates in making supply and equipment purchases with purchasing card or other necessary means: a. Purchases equipment and other items as requested and in compliance with UNT policy. b. Prepare monthly purchasing card reconciliation statement accurately and by the deadline.


Maintains Departmental Records and Project Management Tools.
