Position Summary

Under the direction of Dr. Cara Poland, this position will support a grant that is part of Michigan’s State Opioid Response program. MI CARES provides curriculum development, training and support for physicians throughout the nation to obtain board certification in Addiction Medicine and assists medical schools in Michigan with implementing Addiction Medicine curriculum in their undergraduate medical education (UME). This role will focus on development and evaluation of learner lever appropriate materials for physicians and physicians in training. It will focus on obtaining appropriate approvals for continuing medical education (CME) and aligning UME requirements with course materials.

This is a full time 12-month end dated position.

While serving as an integral member of the research project team and reporting directly to the Principal Investigator, the research assistant will be responsible for logistical management of the project(s) and will also oversee scholarly submission and dissemination activities to ensure broad availability of the methods, data, analyses of the program. This will include independently conducting literature reviews of journals and other best practice materials; identifying appropriate academic and professional outlets for publications and dissemination; writing, editing and formatting project materials; and submitting reports to funding agencies.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or other related science fields; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements and performing analytical and research techniques in an area related to research being performed; may require software specific to the area of research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position may require special licensing or certification in the field related to the area of employment.
