Department Statement

The Center for Bioethics and Social Justice (the Center) resides in the College of Human Medicine (the College) at Michigan State University. The College uses a unique cutting-edge curriculum model—the Shared Discovery Curriculum—which integrates clinical work beginning the first year of medical school, and which also eschews traditional courses. The Center is tasked with developing and often teaching the ethics material integrated across the College’s curriculum.

The Center also wishes to bolster its growing research portfolio in social justice-oriented bioethics, including externally-funded research. A successful candidate’s research could either be in medical (ethics) education, or in some other area of social justice-oriented bioethics. A successful candidate will also have an interest in contributing to the outreach work of the Center, such as hosting meetings with local community groups, and facilitating campus dialogue around bioethics and social justice.

One of the top research universities in the world, MSU pushes the boundaries of discovery and forges enduring partnerships to solve the most pressing global challenges while providing life-changing opportunities to a diverse and inclusive academic community through more than 200 programs of study in 17 degree-granting colleges.
