Position Summary

The Department of Police and Public Safety is looking for a candidate to fill the position of Chief of Staff, who will lead the administrative division of the department. The position will direct daily operations of the division to ensure optimal service and support for the department. The Chief of Staff will report directly to the VP of Public Safety and Chief of Police.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, overseeing the following areas:

  • Budget and finance management
  • Communications unit – public relations, social media, and other press engagements
  • Human Resources – including recruitment, hiring, training, and internal affairs
  • Strategic data analysis – crime statistics and criminal trends
  • Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

    Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Business Administration, Accounting, Management or related field; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial management and analysis, personnel management, and computer systems use and development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
