Technology Strategic Contracts Manager

Position Summary

The Technology SCM will lead the university’s strategic technology procurement efforts to maximize collaborative relationships with stakeholders, subject matter experts, university leadership and suppliers to facilitate the selection of enterprise-wide IT solutions as well as user or unit-specific solutions.

The Technology SCM will develop and implement procurement models that demonstrate industry best practices and aid sound procurement decisions.

The Technology SCM will coordinate with IT leadership to develop collaborative processes that ensure IT/Technology solutions are handled timely, efficiently and with the appropriate level of security review.

The Technology SCM will also supervise a team of exempt and non-exempt purchasing staff that will demonstrate value added to the supply chain by expertly managing RFP processes, researching products and services to develop familiarity with stakeholder needs and to recommend solutions; increasing vendor inclusion to optimize viable choices; and lead stakeholders through selection processes including the negotiation of fair contracts that protect the university’s interests.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by a four-year college degree program in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, IT, Business Administration, or a related field; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in supply chain functions; experience with e-procurement systems, project management, strategic contract development and management, contract management tools, and spend analytic tools; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

IT procurement with a proven track record of enterprise-wide contracts strongly desired. Juris Doctorate, MBA, MS Engineering or equivalent desired. Can demonstrate proven contract negotiation strategies. Broad supply chain experience including operations; Procurement Engineering background. Ability to facilitate high-level conversations with University executives, deans, chairs and directors.
