The Division of Geriatrics in the Department of Medicine at VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System is seeking applicants for a Health Sciences Clinician Investigator at the Instructor rank. The position will be available in academic year 2021/2022. This position will be primarily based at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System.
This is a research-based position (approximately 80% research and 20% clinical/teaching). Applicants must be board eligible or board certified in Geriatric Medicine and must have advanced research training.
Responsibilities will include attending on the VA inpatient geriatric medicine service and supervision of fellows in the geriatric medicine clinic; other duties may be assigned. Teaching medical students, residents and fellows at the VA Greater Los Angeles is also expected. Participating in research and creative/scholarly activities is a major component of the position. Participation in VA Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) meetings/activities and other committee work and service to the VA Greater Los Angeles and the VA Geriatrics Division is also expected.
Other responsibilities will include teaching UCLA medical students, medicine housestaff, and geriatric fellows.
This position will be primarily based at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System.
A California medical license and an M.D. or D.O. are required. Applicants should have a strong background and training in research and possess either a track record of NIH funding or equivalent or demonstrate a high likelihood of obtaining funding in the near future based on advanced research training and productivity to date. Teaching of students, residents, and/or fellows is required.
