This position assists with, highly skilled mechanical work, in the fabrication, maintenance and repair duties of various types. The position requires independent work on similar projects at a lower skill level. Duties may include assistance at a moderate degree of complexity concerned with machining, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and general manual trade applications to laboratory projects, tests, or demonstrations. Work is checked closely through error, precise testing, visual inspection and final review through observation. Functional contacts may include staff members, co-workers, graduate students, laboratory students, and other employees performing related duties.
Assists in developing plans for the fabrication and assembly of parts, instruments, and equipment for educational or research purposes. Assists in assembling, testing, adjusting of equipment. Uses hand and machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, drill presses, lathes, saws, drills, and other shop equipment. Performs preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment such as motors, generators, electrical and mechanical instruments. Repairs, adjusts or replaces as necessary. Receives and surveys damaged instruments and equipment, adjusts, fabricates, and replaces parts as necessary checking for proper function. Where damaged beyond repair, salvages useful parts and disposes of useless parts., Controls inventory of supplies and materials by checking ordering as necessary; responsible for the issuance of tools and materials. Perform other related duties as required.Salary
Salary Range: $15.29-$22.00

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.Preferred Qualifications
