Position Summary

The inaugural Dean of Health Sciences will provide academic and administrative leadership for all undergraduate and graduate programs within the College of Nursing and Advanced Health Professions and participate in the planning, expansion, and development of organization-wide policies and initiatives.

The Dean of Health Sciences, reporting to the Chief Academic Officer, oversees the Health Sciences division of the Dallas campus in order to promote visibility, operational effectiveness, and organizational growth. They will develop long- and short-range plans exercising managerial responsibility for academic program planning, faculty matters, and administration, including staffing, budgeting, and facilities management. They will foster environments which adhere to TCSPP’s standards and expectations in the areas of academic teaching, research, and intellectual achievement, and will create and strengthen internal and external partnerships for both CONAHP and TCSPP as a whole.

Principal Duties

The Dean of Health Sciences will:

  • Employ effective strategic enrollment management strategies to grow student enrollment.

  • Advance and increase new student enrollment goals through the strategic development of MOUs and articulation agreements with organizations and institutions that align with TCSPP’s vision and mission.

  • Advance the Long Range Plan (LRP) initiatives designed to position the campus for growth.

  • Promote community service, outreach, engagement, and strategic partnerships.

  • Develop and promote short- and long-range goals for the campus.

  • Plan and administer the campus annual budget, manage campus revenues and control expenses. Ensure the financial health and viability of the campus through effectively and collaboratively managing the campus P&L.

  • Ensure proper support, resources, collaboration, and communication occurs across functional areas.

  • Create and sustain a culture of operational excellence.

  • Develop a strong team of administrators and staff including hiring, mentoring, advising, directing, and evaluating.

  • In collaboration with the Dean of Academic Affairs, develop and nurture a culture of compliance including relationships with relevant regulatory bodies.

  • In collaboration with the Dean of Academic Affairs, lead the campus outreach efforts with respect to developing and managing community partnerships and relationships.

  • In collaboration with the Director of the Annual Campaign, support a culture of alumni and employee giving and fundraising to support online campus and university initiatives.

  • Ensure proper support, resources, collaboration, and communication occurs across functional areas

  • Work with the Dean of Academic Affairs to prepare for self-studies, focus visits and comprehensive visits.

  • Encourage research grants, expanded advancement effort, and public/private partnerships.

  • Support faculty recruitment, review, and development.

  • Empower efforts to educate the healthcare workforce to ensure state-of-the-art skills.

  • Leverage the College's commitment to diversity and foster academic and non-academic activities to increase the school's visibility within the community and prepare a culturally diverse cadre of health professionals in partnership with the local healthcare community.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Health Sciences, or related field

  • Three years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

  • Senior level experience in higher education administration with a strong record of leadership with online programs and growing enrollment with a commitment to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Very strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.

  • Evidence of successful decision making in a collaborative environment.

  • Proven track record of budget preparation, maintenance, and enforcement.

Additional Qualifications:

  • An earned Doctorate or comparable combination of a master’s degree and previous experience.

  • Collegiate teaching experience complemented by a superior research and scholarly record.

  • Demonstrated success in obtaining federal, state, or private grants.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the broader educational and professional communities, including health service providers and community-based organizations.
