Dean, Liberal Arts and Social Sciences

Heartland Community College seeks applicants for the full-time administrative position of Dean of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. This is a 12-month position anticipated to begin July 2021. 

The Dean is responsible for upholding the educational and organizational quality of the division, fostering a student-focused environment committed to the success of diverse learners, and supervising the selection, training, and evaluation of full-time and part-time faculty and staff. The College seeks an inclusive, innovative leader able to expand the scope and outreach of the division through creative development of programming and collaboration across the disciplines.

• Faculty scholarship and development
• Course and program development
• Strategic planning
• Budget oversight
• Staffing and scheduling

Requirements

• Master’s degree in discipline within the Liberal Arts and Social Sciences division or closely related field
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment

Desired Qualifications

• Appropriate higher education experience, including successful teaching experience
• Record of effective leadership
• Relevant professional experience
