Position Description:
The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Information Technology Services is seeking a Reporting Developer with an exceptional commitment to service excellence to join the team. As the Reporting Developer, you will be an integral member of the Learning Management System program team, collaborating with diverse and talented team members to enable a world-class, integrated teaching and learning experience for faculty and students that sets the standard for teaching excellence, academic achievement, and inclusivity.

The Reporting and Visualization Developer designs, develops, and maintains business intelligence reports and dashboards to support effective decision-making throughout the campus. This role ensures that Canvas LMS solutions balance technical excellence with usability and accessibility while delivering best-in-class solutions to support a broad range of customers, partners, and key stakeholders.

General responsibilities include: Leverages business intelligence tools to design, develop, test, and deliver metrics and reporting reported to the Learning Management System (LMS). Works with the technical implementation team to gather and interpret report specifications and identify data requirements. Enables easy adoption of reports and dashboards by assisting with training and outreach programs, including reports to course faculty, deans, and university leadership. Supports the planning of projects and tasks. Contributes to the development and execution of best-in-class processes and procedures. Ensures alignment with UCLA leadership, faculty, and student needs. Supports university compliance and security governance and policies by embedding standards, procedures, and quality measures into work plans and workflows. Communicates the identification of issues, bugs, and fixes. Supports the initiation of process improvement efforts within the team and across the Technical Implementation team. Leverages insights on customer pain points, challenges, and needs to provide customer-focused solutions. Supports the customer point-of-view when identifying priorities and presenting solutions. Builds and maintains effective customer relationships by providing timely follow-up and feedback. Handles customer requests and routes them to the appropriate party for tracking and resolution. Seeks to deliver quality solutions. Participates in innovation and continuous improvement by leveraging the latest industry knowledge. Maintains currency with new technologies. Learns and adapts quickly to new situations and technologies. Continually develops skills, knowledge, and abilities. Takes the initiative to experiment with new ideas and technologies. Anticipates the impact of emerging technologies and makes recommendations for adjustments. Follows best practices to support logical and efficient decision-making. Presents opportunities, understands success criteria, and measures activities for success. Listens thoughtfully to others and asks relevant questions to confirm understanding. Conducts root cause analysis exercises to identify issues. Recommends realistic solutions to enhance business values.

Additionally, the Reporting Developer supports the vision for Technical Implementation Team and UCLA LMS strategy and works closely with team members and management to implement and support effective solutions for development. Maintains currency with technology, standards, and best practices. Supports process improvement efforts within the team and across the UCLA LMS team.
