Academic Advisor I
Description Examples of duties include:Advises prospective and current students about academic requirements and selection of courses using advising systems and technologies. Disseminates information on university policies and procedures to faculty, parents, students, etc.Maintains students' files that are updated throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary.Analyzes and processes requests for readmission from academic exclusion and financial aid reinstatements; provides retention services for students who are part of the Academic Improvement Program.May assist in conducting orientation sessions for groups of incoming students.Audits student records for curriculum, major, and graduation requirements.Evaluates and determines transfer credits; researches course descriptions to determine transferability.Compares transcripts with entrance and graduation requirements, and advises students on appropriate actions.Refers students with academic discrepancies to proper officials for further action.Assists in the preparation of special reports relating to enrollment and related matters.Evaluates and maintains student records for degree requirements using an academic evaluation system. Monitors student registration activities and academic performance/progress.Coordinates communications to students regarding course scheduling, core and major requirements, academic resources, etc.Determines award recipients based on academic performance. Reviews course adjustment forms and petitions for readmission of students. Processes applications for state certifications, etc.Monitors and tracks the retention, progression, and graduation of all students within the assigned population.Performs other related duties as assigned.We will hire multiple advisors from this announcement.
