  • Email Me Similar JobsEmail Me This JobPosition Summary: This position will collaborate with fashion faculty to select items and create the focus for CLIR Grant-funded photography. They will prepare garments and dress forms for photography and support the development of descriptive text used for digital cataloging. The curator/stylist will work with the photographer to style garments and accessories for 360-degree image capture.

    Primary Responsibilities:

      Coordinate the garments selected for photography from the Mount Mary University Fashion Archive, including identifying garments by designer and period, cataloging garments, and determining the significance of garments based on criteria set forth by program faculty and staffSelect garments from the Fashion Archive to be used in the digitization project based on the pre-determined significanceManage and provide direction to two Fashion Program Student AssistantsPrepare garments and accessories for photography, including size modification, proper support structures and dressing of pliable mannequins, and using display equipment for proper accessory presentationCollaborate with the photographer during photoshoot sessions, including appropriate storage of imagesAssist in determining final use of photography upon completion of the projectWork with the Archivist, as needed, in creating or verifying metadata to appear in the digital collections databaseContribute to grant reporting, in collaboration with the Principal InvestigatorPerform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned
    Skills and Experience:

    • A deep understanding and background in fashion, including design aesthetic, fashion designers, and techniques and methods used to create garments and accessories
    • Extensive understanding of textiles and their preservation
    • Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence; experience working with underrepresented students and students from at-risk backgrounds
    • Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education
    • Outstanding verbal, writing, and presentation skills; must be able to communicate and interact effectively with Mount Mary students, employees, alumnae, and Friends of Fashion members
    • Experience using a variety of technology tools
    • Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects
    • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse groups, facilitate group process and foster collaborative decision making
    Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in fashion, art, history, costume, or other relevant disciplines

    Physical Demands:
