Advertised Job Summary:

The AD is responsible for the administration and operations of the Office of Undergraduate Student Services in ASPH and for providing leadership in matters related to the development of undergraduate majors in the School. The office includes a highly experienced staff of teaching faculty, professional advisors and student employees. The office is responsible for all aspects of undergraduate student services, including enrollment management, student recruitment and retention, registration, student advising, orientation programs and degree certification. The AD provides effective oversight of core activities and implementation. The AD reports directly to and is reviewed by the ASPH Dean. At present, the School has 3 undergraduate degrees and an undergraduate population of ~2600 student majors.
The duties of the AD include but are not limited to: management of ASPH Undergraduate Student Services; oversight of undergraduate public health curriculum planning/revision/approvals; collaboration on academic advising and retention efforts; management of student concerns and grade appeals; working with the UofSC Admissions Office on undergraduate recruitment and new student orientation; working closely with the ASPH Director of Evaluation and Academic Assessment for the evaluation of student learning outcomes and accreditation requirements; management and organization of undergraduate special events for the School; and serving on the ASPH Dean’s administrative council.

The candidate will be expected to teach two courses per year in the Public Health bachelor’s degree program and assist annually in college recruitment, orientation and advisement of undergraduate majors in addition to providing some University and School-level service when necessary.

Required Education and Experience:

An earned doctoral degree in Public Health or related field.
A strong record of increasingly responsible leadership in student services, including supervisory and management experience.
Demonstrated leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively with staff in the office and other administrators across the School and University.
Experience working in a diverse and inclusive higher education environment and a demonstrated commitment to a culture of equity, inclusion and diversity.
•Ability to deal sensitively and discretely with confidential information and ensure that the office maintains a high degree of professionalism and discretion.
Strong pedagogical, written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, BlackBoard, Banner, DegreeWorks, EAB and/or other similar student record and online delivery programs is desired.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working administratively with an undergraduate degree program.
Experience advising undergraduate students in their academic program progression.
Experience teaching at the undergraduate level, ideally in the health sciences.
