Project Manager- NIMBIOS

Regular- Full-time 

Applications are currently being solicited for a project manager to work with researchers affiliated with the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS) at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. We are a community of researchers focused on all aspects of quantitative modeling in the life sciences.

The work will focus on coordinating, organizing, and managing research, outreach, and educational projects for affiliated NIMBioS Researchers at all levels (from student to directorial members). The person will manage workflow and project logistics for effort on different projects and will help ensure meeting timelines for effort, deliverables, and reporting. This person will help with preparation and submission of records relating to project activities, and will coordinate and manage all aspects of project teams. This person may also manage resources and requests for access to resources from visiting project collaborators.

A successful candidate should have some relevant subject matter expertise in mathematical modeling sufficient to understand the nature of research, education, and outreach efforts underway at NIMBioS.

A candidate should have excellent organizational and communication skills and experience working with researchers in a STEM field.



Qualifications
Requirements:

  • MA/MS degree in a field related to mathematical modeling, or MA/MS degree in a field not related to mathematical modeling plus 2+ years of experience working in a research lab in a STEM field involving mathematical modeling
  • 4+ years of experience in a research administrative/managerial role
  • Strong data management, organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills to both researchers and stakeholders
  • Ability to lead diverse and multidisciplinary, STEMfocused teams and hold others accountable for project outcomes
  • Ability to work independently and set priorities and goals
Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with managing an interdisciplinary, mathinclusive research project
  • Experience with grant reports preparation (helped prepare annual and final reports for at least one project funded by an external agency or stakeholder)
