Job Summary
The research security specialist will ensure GTRI successfully meets contractually required compliance and personnel/physical security accreditation standards. This position will report to the Special Security Programs Manager in the Research Security Special Security and Counterintelligence Oversight Division. The research security specialist will support the RS Special Security Programs Manager with day to day implementation of Department of Defense (DoD), Director of National Security (DNI) and Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence (OUSD(I)) directives/manuals. The research security specialist provides direct support and guidance to project directors (PD), senior laboratory management and assigned personnel.
ResponsibilitiesJob Duty 1 – Works with and become proficient in operating U.S. government databases; i.e., Defense Information System for Security (DISS), Scattered Castles, and the Joint Access Database Environment (JADE)
Job Duty 2 – Work with and become proficient in operating the local database; i.e., Security Information Management System (SIMS)Job Duty 3 – Update and maintain electronic/hard copy personnel security files for assigned personnel IAW Records Management Directives and Privacy Act requirementsJob Duty 4 – Provide sensitive compartmented information (SCI) facility (SCIF) and special access program (SAP) facility (SAPF) physical security assistance to the Institute.Job Duty 5 – Process incoming/outgoing SCI/SAP visit certificationsJob Duty 6 – provide initial/annual security trainingJob Duty 7 – Prepare, monitor/disseminate billet correspondence and related documentationJob Duty 8 – Review, prepare, coordinate and disseminate an Emergency Action Plan and SOP.Job Duty 9 – Review, prepare, coordinate and disseminate accreditation documentation, Fixed Facility Checklist (FFC), etc. prior to formal submission to accrediting authorities.Job Duty 10 – Conduct Inventories as required.Job Duty 11 – Assist PDs with OPSEC processes Required QualificationsEducational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Four years of job related experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearanceExperience dealing with SCIWorking knowledge of the Defense Information System for Security (DISS)Working knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM)
