The primary purpose of the school nurse is to assume the roles of provider regarding student health care, planning and coordinating of the school health program at Niner University Elementary. The school nurse will collaborate with stakeholders to coordinate healthcare services for students providing training and support to staff as needed.Minimum Education/Experience:

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Contributing: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
Journey: Graduation from a state accredited school of professional nursing with a diploma/and one year of professional nursing experience; or a BSN and 6 months of professional nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
Advanced: Graduation from a state accredited school of professional nursing with a BSN and two years of professional nursing experience with one year of experience in the assigned area; or a MSN and six months professional nursing experience in the assigned area; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.Essential Job Duties:
The school nurse will assume the role of provider regarding student health care, planning and coordinating of the school health program at Niner University Elementary. The school nurse identifies and treats health disorders among students and provides instruction in the maintenance of good health and disease prevention. The school
nurse must evaluate the physical conditions of students and refer students to appropriate
resources as needed. Decisions made by the school nurse require discretionary judgment and analysis.
B.S. Degree in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation.
Minimum of four years nursing experience required, public health and/or pediatric experience preferred.
Certified by the American Nurses’ Association (ANA) or the
National Association of School Nurses (NASN).
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.Work Location:
