Summary of Duties:
Cougar Health Services (CHS) Nurse Practitioner provides primary care and gender affirming therapy for WSU students. This practice requires competence in general medicine, gynecology, sports medicine, trauma, infectious disease including STD’s, dermatology, psycho-social medicine and as applicable women’s health using current standards of care. Provider practices within the scope of a board-certified provider to prescribe, administer, and dispense contraceptive products and be a resource for students seeking family planning options in a primary care clinic. This includes providing education to patients which may include counseling them about family planning, sexual health, and reproductive medicine. Local and regional specialists are available for referral as needed. Patients needing counseling may be referred to WSU Counseling Services, to the staff psychiatrist or to other community mental health professionals. In all interactions professionalism, teamwork, preventive care, patient education and cost-effective practice styles are valued. Providers also support CHS and the university through non-clinical work when requested.
A State of Washington Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license, prescriptive authority and National Certification must be obtained within one (1) year of employment.
Two (2) years of experience in a primary care setting.
A State of Washington Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License at the time of hire.
Must possess prescriptive authority at the time of hire.
Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with primary care specialty.
Four (4) years’ relevant clinical experience in a primary care setting.
Experience working in a college health care environment.
Experience providing Gender Affirming Therapy.
Electronic Medical Record training or experience.
