The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia School of Medicine seeks multiple Research Scientists to conduct research on physiologic or pathological cell plasticity. Dr. Lian-Wang Guo’s laboratory conducts research on how epigenetic effectors transmit environmental cues into chromatin remodeling and cell state transitions. They aspire to understand how their interplay shapes specific cell states. The laboratory also performs translational research by targeting pathological cell plasticity to treat vascular disease or retinal degeneration.

Qualified candidates are expected to have mastered molecular/cell biology and biochemical approaches. Experience in animal work or bioinformatics is preferred but not required. The incumbent can choose between vascular and retinal projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Terminal degree required, PhD or MD.

This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
