Position Highlights:

The Retail Manager is a University Staff position within the retail division of the University of Arizona Student Unions. Reporting to the Unions’ Assistant Director for Retail Development, Contract Management, and Corporate Sponsorship the incumbent manages the day to day operations of the Esports Arena within the Student Union Memorial Center. The Retail Manager will hire and supervise approximately 7-15 student employees, and is responsible for all aspects of the Esports Arena, including daily retail operations, facility management, and maintaining a collaborative partnership with the University’s Esports Porgram leadership.

Duties & Responsibilities:

•Oversees all retail service operations and activities, manages individual computer and facility use, and provides strategic direction and oversight in a manner that is consistent with best practices while adhering to the business guidelines of the University of Arizona Student Unions.

•Plans and manages the unit’s budget, forecasts revenues and expenses, prepares financial reports and adjusts budget based on market trends and conditions.

•Establishes goals and objectives and develops and implements policies and procedures to improve retail operations, service and programming activities.

•Trains, supervises, mentors and evaluates all student employees and interns.

•Manages tournaments, events and functions held in the Esports Arena.

•Manages vendor relationships and works closely with supervisor and Esports Program leadership to establish new business opportunities and strengthen current relationships.

•Continually evaluates and improves customer service and facility use opportunities, offerings, and operational methods.

•Establishes and implements policies and procedures for retail and program operations.

•Attends management meetings and serves on key Unions committees and work groups as needed.

•Exhibits strong oral and written communications skills, and demonstrates ability to work in a team environment with a strong customer service orientation.

•Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

Minimum Qualifications:

•Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Management and Operations or related field AND three years of supervisory experience; OR, seven years of retail and operations management experience which includes one year of supervisory experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

•Experience with computers and gaming equipment.

•Experience with supervisory practices and principles.
