Job Description Summary:

The Career and Technical Education Resource Coordinator provides educational support, mentoring, financial assistance, college navigation, and community connections to services for special population students in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs as defined by the federal Carl D. Perkins V grant. The coordinator uses a case management approach to provide services to students by analyzing circumstances individually and providing solutions that are prescriptive to the learners’ particular needs. The staff is especially sensitive to the needs of the adult student who has responsibilities of a home, family, and/or employment to factor into their educational objectives. The coordinator advocates on behalf of these students by helping them to overcome any barriers that are impeding their success.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Two years of professional experience working with individuals who are low income, homeless, veterans, aged out of foster care, limited English fluent, disabled, non-traditional student, single parent, and/or active in the armed forces
• Must be able to effectively use common Microsoft Office computer applications independently to enter information and reference records
• High proficiency in creating/manipulating spreadsheets using Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or CTE related area
• Case management experience
• Professional experience working in a higher education institution
• Knowledge of CTE programming

Other Information:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identifies students eligible for CTE Special Population grant resources by surveying freshman and referrals
• Verifies and documents individual eligibility for grant resources
• Conducts intake assessments to identify individual needs
• Determines appropriate assistance to be provided
• Contacts/meets with students regularly to discuss/review academic progress
• Documents and maintains electronic files on each eligible student
• Works with Financial Aid and other departments as needed to ensure the Perkins Special Populations cost of college grants are fully utilized
• Consults with FYE office, Teaching and Learning Center, faculty, and other college success staff to facilitate students’ academic momentum (persistence, retention, and graduation)
• Develops, plans and conducts workshops, in-services, promotional materials and/or programs for
faculty, staff, and/or students concerning awareness of grant programs and services
• Assures and documents the full expenditure of the Perkins grant allocations for the departmental activities
• Understands and works within Perkins V grant guidelines
• Assists the Dean with Perkins V grant development and reporting annually
• Participates on the Perkins V grant advisory team
• Highly organized and accustomed to tracking/maintaining electronic records for efficiencies and compliance
• Must maintain confidentiality of information regarding student records, faculty and student communications, and personnel matters

visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
